Getting started


Introduction

HI, I am a studying games programming and this is my game I am developing for my indie development module. this is the first of many development logs and for my first entry, I will be introducing my game premise and what you can expect the finished project to be like.  my game  "Battle Farming"  is a mix of farming and a turn based combat. the game loop is you farm in the day and fight at night. also this game is endless and is more about balancing between buying upgrades and seeds. because it endless for at least it first release the game will be 3 days long meaning 3 day cycles and 3 night cycles to display the game loop.

Day time gameplay

during the daytime the player will be able to plant and harvest crops. the core mechanics are simple you plant seeds which you buy at the store, wait for them to grow and then harvest them and then sell them. another mechanic i want to add is that you need to water your plants every day and if you don't the crop will die or just not grow. I would like to add multiple plant to choose from that would have different growing speeds and the more time it takes to grow the more money you get when you sell it. how ever the amount of options will be limited by how many free assets I can find that fit the same art style. 

Night time gameplay

at night is when you fight it will be a turn based combat were you will have to  walk into the enemies and then combat will start similar to  Pokémon. The core mechanics are simple you walk into an enemies and then get taken to a fighting screen where you can choose to attack or heal. I am  unsure if you would be fighting multiple enemies or just one at a time.  also, insure what option the player has when fighting  definitely attack and heal but possibly a block mechanic or a stun mechanic. in the store you will be able to upgrade each mechanic as  this will help incentivise the player to farm.


 notes:

since this project is still in early development and I haven't yet gotten anything up to level to talk about  for example currently working on the level design, animation and the fighting mechanic, many of these mechanics and aspects of the game may change.
